Frequently Asked Questions

What is ReachOut?

Think of ReachOut as a "time-release learning system." Once you install any version of ReachOut, you'll get a great piece of knowledge once a week for an entire year. ReachOut will open automatically just once each week when you start up your computer.
When will ReachOut appear?

Some versions of ReachOut start up on Monday, some on Tuesday, and so on. If you don't start up your computer the day that ReachOut is supposed to open, it will open the next time you restart your computer during that week - so you'll never miss a tip.
What if I close the ReachOut window before reading the tip?

You can start ReachOut any time by clicking on Start/Programs/ReachOut.
What else does ReachOut do?

ReachOut allows you to send a quick email to the creator of the version. You can also pass along any tip to a friend, without requiring them to sign up in order to see it. Also, some tips may have links that you can click on to visit specific web pages or resources online.
How much does it cost?

Nothing! Each week you'll be getting great information and additional resources for the topic of your choice and you don't have to pay a dime or sit through advertisements to get it!
Does ReachOut store any personal information?

Absolutely not! No personal information is required to install ReachOut, and therefore none will get stored.
Does ReachOut transmit any personal data?

No. The only time ReachOut transmits something from your computer is when you use the "Send This Message To A Friend" link. No personal data, browsing habits, or other personally-based statistics are sent from your computer.
Can ReachOut harm my computer?

ReachOut has been tested on hundreds of different operating systems and configurations. There has never been a case where the install of ReachOut has harmed a computer or computer program in any way. Every computer is different, and as with every software program the possibility exists that there could be a problem with an installation. We believe ReachOut's track record proves the risk is miniscule.
Why do I have to give my name and email to download ReachOut?

So that you can be notified of any changes or upgrades to the ReachOut version! We want to keep you in the loop with the most current and helpful information available. Your privacy is treated with the utmost respect at all times. Your email address will never be sold, rented, or shared with anyone at any time - ever.
Can I uninstall ReachOut?

Yes, you can uninstall ReachOut at any time by accessing it on your Programs menu.
What happens after one year?

We understand the desire to keep your tips handy after you've seen them all over the course of a year. Once the year is over, ReachOut will no longer open once a week, but will remain accessible in your Programs menu. You can open ReachOut at any time after the year is over and browse through all of the tips, visit all of the links, and still send any tips to your friends or colleagues.
I see two versions of ReachOut that I'd like to install, can I have them both?

Absolutely! The number of versions you can have installed varies from computer to computer depending on speed, capacity, and a few other factors. Our testing was stopped at five versions for one PC, which remains our recommendation for a limit - so grab those two and pick up a couple more if you'd like! ReachOut is certainly not a burden for your computer to run, so if you see multiple versions you would like to install, by all means go for it, they can co-exist!
Will ReachOut work on a Mac?

Not at this time. ReachOut has been successfully tested on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP.
Can I send the zipped ReachOut program to a friend?

While every version of ReachOut is free, emailing a copy of the program directly is not allowed as per the ReachOut License Agreement. You are encouraged to send your friends emails of tips from within ReachOut, which will give them the choice of downloading ReachOut on their own. If they choose to download their own version, we will have their name and email on file, in order to let them know about future updates or revisions. From any tip that is sent, your friend or colleague can easily go straight to the web page for that version.
I uninstalled a version of ReachOut, how do I get off of the update list?

If you receive an update email after uninstalling ReachOut, simply reply to that email with the word "REMOVE" in the subject line and you will be removed from the list. You will not receive version updates after having that version of ReachOut installed for more than one year.
Can I use ReachOut on my computer at work?

As long as you have permissions to install software, ReachOut should function normally. If your network or system administrator has not granted these permissions, ReachOut will not work.
